Netted Pebble Pendant

Picture
Knotless netting or looping is a basketry technique as old as the hills. Learn the basic stitch (loop) as you use waxed linen to "net" a pebble to wear as an amulet. Combine looped variations in patterns as you increase your skill and create a netted treasure bag with a flap.

Transforming Surface:  Commonplace to Extraordinary
Picture
Explore surface design techniques to mark/stain/dye plain fabrics (and paper) using easily acquired materials.  Students will experiment with direct object printing, multiple mono-printing and resist dyeing using paint, dye, tea, rust, leaves and dirt.  Samples will be organized into your own TECHNIQUES TEXTBOOK for future reference.  The magic continues when techniques are layered, combined and embellished then attached to a pre-stretched canvas.
